In the swirling mists of the Monteverde cloud forest in Costa Rica and in the minds and hearts of children and adults in many parts of the world, a dream is taking shape. Called Bosque Eterno de los Ninos (Children's Eternal Forest), it is the first international children's rain forest in the world, a rain forest being saved by and for children, for the planet itself, for now and for tomorrow. Established near Monteverde in the Tilaran Mountains of northwestern Costa Rica in 1988, Bosque Eterno de los Ninos grew to 18,000 acres (7,285 hectares) in the first two years. The total area to be preserved is 43,000 acres (17,402 hectares).
